iLuminate has invented an architecture to morph a self-oscillating, half bridge-based ballast into an advanced two-step dimming ballast.

It promises to slash the cost of a step-dimming lamp drastically because typical BoM (bill of materials) compromises a basic CFL, an iLuminate IC, and no more than 10 passive components.

By de-lighting a basic lamp from constant full power, iLuminate two-step dimming IC modernizes on/off sockets with a new-age dimming capability. The consumers can tailor the light output according to ambient light, reading requirement, etc., to realize energy savings.

Compared to a light fixture using multiple lamps in combination, this method also saves space and cost because each delighted lamp is not only equivalent to two basic lamps, but it also eliminates the switching mechanism in the fixture.
