To take CFL energy savings benefit to a whole new level, iLuminate focuses on developing "Super CFL Technologies" for next-generation CFLs. Our goal is to improve power factor to over .90 (up from ~.55 for basic CFL) and add dimming features to currently non-dimmable CFLs. By fusing RF technologies with power electronics, iLuminate provides innovative power management solutions that enable cheaper, smaller and longer-lasting Super CFLs. .

Since lighting consumes 19% of global electricity, many governments including the EU, Australia, Canada and the US have passed legislation outlawing low-efficacy incandescent lamps in favor of energy-efficient lighting sources such as CFLs and LED lamps.
